[amazon_link id=”B008C7OYUK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]\"Udaan\"[\/amazon_link]I recently reviewed the film Udaan at my Movie Review Blog<\/a>. And one of\u00a0the lovely things about the movie (among the other lovely things) was it’s heartfelt poetry.<\/p>\n

Here is one poem (and here is another<\/a>) by Amitabh Bhattacharya that\u00a0I’ve managed to find on the internet (courtesy Abhijit Bhaduri’s blog<\/a>). My rough translation follows :<\/p>\n

Chhoti-chhoti chhitrayi yaadein<\/p>\n

Bichhi hui hain lamhon ki lawn par<\/p>\n

Nange pair unpar chalte-chalte<\/p>\n

Itni door chale aaye<\/p>\n

Ki ab bhool gaye hain ki<\/p>\n

Joote kahan utaare the.<\/p>\n

Aedi komal thi, jab aaye the.<\/p>\n

Thodi si naazuk hai abhi bhi.<\/p>\n

Aur nazuk hi rahegi<\/p>\n

In khatti-meethi yaadon ki shararat<\/p>\n

Jab tak inhe gudgudati rahe.<\/p>\n

Sach, bhool gaye hain<\/p>\n

Ki joote kahan utaare the.<\/p>\n

Par lagta hai,<\/p>\n

A few, scattered memories
\nAre spread across this garden of moments,
\nBare-foot I walk upon them,
\nAnd have come so far,
\nThat I have forgotten,
\nWhere I had removed my shoes,
\nThe soles of my feet were tender when I had come,
\nThey are still tender now,
\nAnd will remain tender
\nUntil the bitter-sweet play of memories,
\nTickles them,
\nTruly, I have forgotten,
