Lovesick
Year: 2014–2018
Running time: 24–27 minutes per episode
Creator: Tom Edge
Cast: Johnny Flynn, Antonia Thomas, Daniel Ings
Summary:
After learning he has contracted an STI, Dylan sets out to contact former romantic partners. The premise quickly gives way to a warm, funny exploration of friendship, dating, and growing up, with much of the story told through flashbacks to past relationships.
Why Watch This:
This is a witty – and I mean witty – romantic comedy. Real simple premise: 3 friends Dylan, Luke and Evie. Dylan gets an STD and he must inform all his past lovers (and there are a lot) of the disease. Each episode of season 1 and Season 2 (each episode is a girl’s name) is devoted to 1 “telling” with a bit of a deeper dive on the relationship. By Season 3 (the final season) we have a good handle on the personalities of the three, and of the romantic tension between Dylan and Evie. Will they/won’t they?

The IT Crowd
Year: 2006–2013

Creator: Graham Linehan
Cast: Chris O’Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson
Summary:
Set in the basement IT department of a large corporation, the series follows socially awkward technicians Roy and Moss and their well-meaning but technologically clueless manager Jen. The show is known for its absurd situations, eccentric characters, and sharp workplace humor.
Why Watch This:
Three unforgettable, hilarious characters who are human and relatable – and no, you don’t have to be a geek to get them. Anyone who has worked in an office will recognize the clueless managers, pointless meetings, and communication breakdowns—even if they’ve never worked in IT.
Where To Watch: I streamed this on on Prime Video.
Silicon Valley
Year: 2014–2019
Running time: 28–34 minutes per episode
Creators: Mike Judge, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky
Cast: Thomas Middleditch, T. J. Miller, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani
Summary:
A gifted programmer and his friends try to build a successful tech startup in the highly competitive world of Silicon Valley. The series combines sharp satire of the technology industry with memorable characters, startup mishaps, investor drama, and plenty of geek humor.
Why Watch This:
This comedy series follows a group of software engineers trying to build a successful startup in Silicon Valley. Richard Hendricks, a shy but brilliant programmer creates a powerful data compression algorithm, and leaves to form his own startup, Pied Piper, after realizing its massive potential. What follows is a constant struggle to grow the company while navigating investor pressure, rival tech firms, unstable funding, and the personalities of his ragtag team of socially inept software nerds.
It’s an underdog story and we are all rooting for the scrappy Richard, because he starts off (and remains) a total babe-in-the-woods in the investor-eat-investor world of Silicon valley. His other team-members, the overbearing, self-professed mentor Erlich Bachman, software engineers Dinesh Chugtai (Kunail Nanjiani), Bertram Gilfoyle, straight-laced project manager Jared Dunn, and fellow incubator resident Jian Yang make this series an absolute must watch!
Where To Watch: I streamed this on HBO.
